Obituary for Lucille Jean Piontek

Lucille Jean Piontek, age 84, of Washington passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 peacefully in her home. Lucille was born January 9, 1934 in Villa Ridge, MO. She is the daughter of the late August Patke and his wife Philomena nee` Brinkmann. She attended St. Elizabeth High School in St. Louis for two years and then graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Donald Piontek October 12, 1957 at the St. John the Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, MO; the couple made their home in Washington, MO. Lucille received her nursing degree from DePaul Nursing School. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Bonnie’s office, then Cedarcrest Nursing home. She then worked at the Mercy Hospital Washington in the ER and Ambulatory Surgery at Mercy Hospital Washington. She officially retired in 2010. Lucille was an active member and volunteer at the St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington, MO. She could be found in the community volunteering at Mercy Hospital with the Auxiliary or at local blood drives. She also enjoyed volunteer work with the Pregnancy Assistance Center and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. In the last few years Lucille helped start the Divine Mercy Cenacle at Borgia church and helped place signs for the Divine Mercy around Washington. In addition to volunteering she enjoyed sewing, gardening, growing flowers and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Louis Hellmann Patke; five brothers, Joe and Helen Patke, Al and Ethel Patke, Clarence and Joann Patke, Victor and Frank Patke; two brothers-in-law, Ervin Loepker and Rich Eckelkamp.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Piontek of Washington, MO; one daughter, Donna Hagedorn and husband Steve of Union, MO; three sons, Darrell Piontek and wife Shari, Allan Piontek and wife Tricia and Dale Piontek and wife Missy all of Washington, MO; eleven grandchildren, Jimmy, Melissa, Nicole, Holly, Shannon, Maddie, Aaron, Drew, Sydney, Sam and Jack; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Eckelkamp, Francis Loepker and Irene Voss and husband Joe all of Washington MO; two sisters-in-law, Sally Piontek and Agnes Piontek of Washington, MO; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Piontek and John and Joan Piontek of Washington, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington, MO with Rev. Joe Wormek officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pregnancy Assistance Center, St. Francis Borgia Church or Masses. The Piontek family was served by the Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington, MO.
