Obituary for Donald Edward Calvin

Donald Edward Calvin was born February 24, 1941 in Labadie, MO to Marion Calvin and Gladys Calvin (nee’ Johnson). He passed away on Saturday, June 09, 2018 in Union, MO at the age of 77 years.

Donald graduated from Western Military Academy in Alton, Illinois in 1960. He proudly served his country in the Missouri National Guard from August 1960 until he was honorably discharged on August 14, 1966. He attained the rank of Sargent and received commendation for Rifle Marksman. Donald was united in holy matrimony to Anna Rose Noelke on May 09, 1964 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Washington, MO and the marriage was blessed with three children.

Mr. Calvin worked as a machinist at SKF Foundry and then Stork Fabricator until his retirement. Throughout his life he enjoyed several hobbies such as woodworking, participating in Scouting activities with his grandchildren, building civil war cannons, and puttering in his flower beds. He was an active participant in war reenactments for over 40 years. Mr. Calvin was a parishioner of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and member of American Legion Post 218, where he served on the Funeral Honors Team.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dr. Glen Calvin and Ted Calvin.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Rose Calvin; one son, David Calvin and wife Tina of Washington; two daughters: Michele Wissmann and husband David of Washington, and Bridget Gildehaus and husband Dominic of Washington; one brother, Steve Calvin and wife Sandy of Florida; seven grandchildren: Lanie Calvin, Haley Calvin, Devynn Calvin, Joshua Wissmann and wife Samantha, Jessica Wissmann, Dylan Gildehaus, and Austin Gildehaus; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Washington, MO with Rev. Joseph Wormek officiating. Burial with full military honors followed in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mr. Calvin to St. Francis Borgia Grade School or St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

The Calvin family was served by the Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington, Missouri.
